ALGE TED2 Long Range Digital Radio System
Description
The digital TED2 replaces the legendary original analog TED “beer can” radios as Alge’s offering in the long-distance RF transmission category, with 500mW power allowing transmission up to approximately 5km (as always, it requires line of sight and can be affected by local interference, your mileage may vary). The thermo-compensated TCXO quartz crystal of the TED2 is permanently synchronized via an integrated GPS receiver and self-calibrates for trouble-free accuracy under all weather conditions. The radio transmits in the 433 MHz band, and the radio frequency and power can be set by the operator. An integrated virtual keyboard in the TED2 allows the operator to assign bib numbers to the impulses. The timing impulse or the “time stamp” is embedded in each radio transmission, and contains the time of day, the timing channel and the bib or alternatively a sequential number. As a result, the TED2 is actually a standalone homologated timer in its own right and can be connected directly to a PC to act as a time-base, much like a Timy or other timer.
Each TED2-TX transmitter features two timing channels, but by using extra transmitters you can adjust the timing channels so you can receive up to 10 different active channels. Our unique technology enables the TED2-RX to receive all 10 timing channels simultaneously. Since the TED2 can also transmit conventional timing impulses, it is fully compatible with previous-generation Alge timing devices as well as from other manufacturers.
